Single sign-on (SSO) in an enterprise refers to employees signing in just once with one set of credentials and gaining access to all enterprise applications, websites, and data to which they are authorized. SSO addresses key business issues by providing for cyber network security.

This authentication scheme is a more generous version of 2-factor authentication. Starting with factor 3 and up to 4. This identity verification mainly uses three or the following factors:

  • Knowledge (what you know): PIN, username and password, security questions
  • Treasure (what you have): number, USB key, magic link, or card
  • Heritage (your thing): biometrics - eg fingerprints, voice, palm veins, complex iris/retina patterns, behavioral patterns, etc.
